Woofing Waters Dog Park
Woofing Waters is Broward County's water-themed dog park: about two acres of off-leash space in the northwest corner of Quiet Waters, split into large- and small-dog sides, with spray hydrants, line jets and a water loop where dogs can cool off in the Florida heat.
What's here
- Separate fenced areas for large dogs and small dogs.
- Large-dog side: a spray hydrant, shower nozzle, eight-nozzle line jet and nearly 800 feet of hard paths.
- Small-dog side: a shower nozzle, line jet and a water loop with sprays.
- Dog-wash stations and dog drinking fountains on each side.
- 20-foot shade umbrellas, benches and picnic tables.
- Restrooms and a concession building.
Good to know
Woofing Waters closes every year from about the third week of January to the second week of April for maintenance and the Renaissance Festival. Bring proof of your dog's current rabies vaccination; the paperwork must show the date given or the expiration date.
Fees and hours
- Daily visit: $5, covering up to three dogs.
- Annual membership: $25 for up to three dogs, with one access card; extra cards $15.
- Open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day in season.
- Private rental of the dog park: $250 for a two-hour session.
On weekends and holidays, the park's $3 gate fee also applies. The same fees apply at Barkham at Markham Park in Sunrise, the county's other fee dog park.
The water features
What makes Woofing Waters different is the water. On the large-dog side, a spray hydrant, a shower nozzle and a line of eight jets shoot water dogs can chase; on the small-dog side, a water loop sends sprays around a course. Water-loving dogs will be soaked in minutes, so bring a towel and use the dog-wash station before the car ride home.
Rules
- Dogs on leash coming in and out; unleash once you're inside the gate.
- Three dogs per adult handler at most; keep them in sight.
- No puppies under 4 months and no dogs in heat.
- Clean up after your dog and fill any holes.
- No human food, dog pools or shared water bowls; no spiked or prong collars.
- Supervise children at all times.
- Remove a dog that's aggressive or bothering others, and report any bite to the park office before you leave.
The marina next door
The county calls this corner Woofing Waters Dog Park & Marina: rental boats tie up at the dock beside it. Kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and pedal boats have been rented here in season, mostly on weekends. Broward's current rates are $15 an hour for a single kayak or paddleboard ($25 for two hours, $35 for four) and $20 an hour for a double kayak or canoe, plus a $15 deposit. Call the park office to check what's running before you go.
Tips
Mornings are cooler and calmer; late afternoons get busy after work. In summer, plan your visit before 11 or after 4, keep an eye out for heat stress, and leave when the lightning horn sounds. Outside the dog park, dogs are welcome on a 6-foot, non-retractable leash elsewhere in Quiet Waters, though not in Splash Adventure or on the mountain bike trails.
Dog events
Woofing Waters hosts occasional dog events, such as Barktoberfest in past years, with special-session fees of $5 for members and $6.50 for others. They're listed on our events calendar when the county announces them.
