Ski Rixen USA: Cable Wakeboarding
Ski Rixen USA has been pulling riders around a lake at Quiet Waters since 1983, making it America's first cable water-ski park. Instead of a boat, an overhead cable tows you around a loop, so you can wakeboard, water-ski or kneeboard lap after lap. First-timers are welcome.
What's here
- A full-size cable loop with ramps and rails.
- Gear, helmets and Coast Guard–approved life jackets included.
- Weekend group lessons and private lessons.
- The Wibit Aqua Park inflatable obstacle course (seasonal).
- The Beach House: burgers, hot dogs, ice cream, soda and beer.
- Lockers ($5 a day).
Good to know
Ski Rixen is privately run inside the park. Hours change with the season; recently Tuesday to Friday 2–7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday noon–7 p.m., closed Mondays. Everyone signs a waiver (online is faster). Call 954-429-0215 or book at skirixenusa.com.
How cable riding works
Towers around the lake hold a cable that runs in a loop above the water, with ropes hanging from it. You start on the dock, a rope comes by, and it pulls you off and around the course. If you fall, you swim or walk back to the dock and wait for another rope. Because there's no boat, the water stays glassy, and you get far more riding time than behind a boat.
Prices
- Cable sessions: from $35 for two hours; four-hour, all-day and one-hour sunset sessions too.
- Wakeboard lessons: from $60 per person.
- Aqua Park: $15 for a 45-minute session, $13 each for groups of 15 or more.
- Private parties: from $1,050 plus tax.
- Summer wake camp: from $349.99 a week, ages 7+.
Prices are Ski Rixen's own; check their pricing page and specials for winter deals and season passes. Your session time includes walking back after a fall. The Quiet Waters gate fee ($3 per car on weekends) is separate.
First time? Speeds and ages
- Weekend group lessons: instructors on the dock, cable at 15 mph, ages 7 and up.
- Weekend slow ride: noon to 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at 17 mph, ages 10 and up.
- Full speed: 19 mph, from 2 p.m., ages 12 and up.
There are no height or weight limits. Beginners do best starting with a weekend group lesson (10 a.m. to noon, registration required), then staying for the slow ride. Kneeboards are the easiest way to get around the first lap.
The Aqua Park
The Wibit Aqua Park is a big inflatable obstacle course floating on the cable lake, with climbing walls, balance beams and slides. Sessions are 45 minutes with a safety briefing, life jackets are required, and you should be a comfortable swimmer. It's seasonal: it closed for 2026 and returns in spring 2027.
What to bring and rules
Bring a swimsuit, a towel and sunscreen; Ski Rixen provides boards, skis, helmets, life jackets and, from about November to February, wetsuits. You can bring your own gear if your life jacket is Coast Guard–approved and your board has no metal fins. A rash guard or shorts over a two-piece is a good idea. Dogs can watch from the shore on a 6-foot leash.
Night rides
Ski Rixen has brought back night riding, with special #NightRide events under lights with a DJ, a bonfire and a barbecue; the 2026 event was in March. Night events run at full speed and are for riders with cable experience. Watch skirixenusa.com and our events calendar for the next one.
